TUSCAN STONE COTTAGE
Mayacama GOLF CLUB, Santa Rosa

Sometimes a sketch or a memory can be just as powerful as the real thing.  For the stone cottage, an idea was born with a simple request to bring Tuscany back home to California.

Kirley Architects was asked to design this completely authentic and custom home in the spirit of its Tuscan heritage, a process that started with extensive research into the ancient Italian building methods that created the vernacular homes, barns and villas that touch the hearts of so many.

At the core of this project lies its completely unique materials sources from all over the globe.  This sourcing process became a labor of love allowing the homeowner to weave an web of stories into the building.   Almost everything in the home is custom from the doors, to the ancient clay tile, the imposing stone fireplace surround, the antique timbers hand-selected to create one of the most unique ceilings we've ever had the pleasure of designing.

Located adjacent to the existing Tuscan inspired main dwelling, the cottage respects the Italian nature of the property and the endless rolling hills surrounding the site.  Thick stone walls which reach up to 24" in depth add a historic charm and a unique sense of history.
