Our PHILOSOPHY

We at Kirley Architects consider ourselves, fundamentally, as artists. At the heart of our process is hand-rendering in watercolor–we refine our work through the creation of imagery that evokes, stirs the senses, and inspires. Our vision is comprehensive, and we find it is best realized when we can be involved from a project's inception all the way through the completion of construction. We have cultivated our ability to forecast, troubleshoot, and shepherd each project toward a successful outcome.

We are intellectually curious and forever students of our craft — persistently educating ourselves and our clients. While our primary focus is architecture, we implicitly understand the importance of the relationship between our team, client, and contractor. Kirley Architects has had the distinct pleasure of working with countless Contractors, Engineers, Designers and vendors, and brings this valuable expertise to the table when qualifying key partners for your project. We are well-equipped to guide you through the many stages of design and construction, building project teams, fostering an environment of respect, accountability and quality of service.

KEITH KIRLEY, AIA
MANAGING & FOUNDING PARTNER

Keith is a third-generation licensed architect whose distinctive style is deeply rooted in tradition and shaped by his idyllic New England upbringing.

With a master’s degree in Classical Architecture from the University of Notre Dame and an undergraduate degree in economics from Brown University, Keith moved to Northern California to bring his classical training, industry expertise, and sharp eye for detail to a new market. Following in the footsteps of his father and grandfather, he is a visionary who brings beauty and order to the often complex world of building.

His firm, Kirley Architects, works across disciplines. While best known for designing highly customized single-family homes, they also have experience in commercial architecture. Their work includes projects such as the Instagram campus for Urban Remedy and the popular San Francisco eatery, Noosh; each tailored to the unique demands of the project. Keith and his team are steadfast in their commitment to time-honored design principles and are leading voices in the revival of classical and traditional architecture.

Outside the office, Keith serves as the Design Review Architect for the Mayacama Golf Club’s design review committee and is a nominated member of both the Kentfield Planning and Advisory Board and the Kent Woodlands HOA Architecture Committee in Marin County. He is also an active board member and currently Vice President of the Northern California Chapter of the Institute for Classical Architecture & Art (ICAA), an organization central to his Classical Architecture roots. As an Architectural Registration Examination mentor and coach, Keith supports the next generation of architects in their pursuit of licensure. Personally, he feels most at home skiing in Tahoe, playing ice hockey, or fly fishing on California’s iconic rivers. He lives in Kentfield with his wife, children, and dog.
